We are a small family with no pets. I’m considering the roomba red, but wonder if it would be worth it to spend the extra $150 for the scheduler. If I get the red roomba can I upgrade with parts later? Is that cost-efficient?

I love my Roomba and have no problem suggesting friends and family should get one.
The largest downside is the noise (engine, vacuum and constant bumping into things) so you don’t want to use it when you are sleeping or watching TV. Having the scheduler means you can set it to go off when you know you’re away from home.
That said – I don’t use the scheduling feature that often. I have pets (which hate it) and a fairly large house so I have to move it to the area that I want cleaned and make sure everything is picked up off the floor in that room. Plus, you need to empty the dustbin everytime you use it and I’m sure that I would forget to if I didn’t remember which day it was running.
I don’t know for sure, but I doubt you can upgrade later.
Hope that helps
